I think I'm having one of those 'the world is tumbling down on me' moments, but good god why is everything in life so expensive? I feel like I'm constantly trying to skrimp and save, but I always end up near-penniless a fair while before pay day! I always do really careful food shops, I was careful and saved money on my home and motor insurance from LV=, and got the cheapest energy prices for my flat that I could by comparing online. But somehow, between bills and direct debits, tax and student finance payments I feel like I barely have anything left. Forget having a social life, I rarely go out with my friends any more, instead I try and get them to visit me for dinner or a glass of wine so I don't have to pay expensive pub prices! I think I need three jobs to be able to afford to live!
I had the most horrendous experience yesterday! I was coming home from work – all happy as for once I had, had a good day and I tripped over! Now I know that sounds like well that happens to all of us, but this time I went flat on my face and had to be picked up by two (quite good looking guys) who were standing next to me! To top it off – I RIPPED my jeans right down the crotch!! So embarrassed. It happened at Stratford as I was walking up the stairs from the jubilee line to get on the central line. I didn’t see anyone laughing directly at me, but I am sure people were! I ended up having to cover my rip with my handbag. The only lucky thing was that it was on the way home from work – not on the way to!
Fashion week is on our horizons and if you are already a walking wardrobe like me then what else am I supposed to do other than buy more clothes. If I am going to attend every catwalk show and put my best foot forward with the rest of the capitals fashionistas then I certainly need to look the part. Yes it might have me sold down the river without even a pillow to lay my head and in some ways my balance is already suffering, but it is nothing that a little help from Wonga cannot help me with. This is the most important networking week of the year for myself as an upcoming designer so if it means eating baked beans for a few weeks afterwards then I think that’s absolutely worth it. I will see you on the otherside my fellow fashionheads. Image: iwantthe
Lighting for your shower is often overlooked, until you take a shower and realize it is too dark in there. Light is a necessity in the shower so you can see what you are doing. There are plenty of ways to add much needed light to your bathroom shower. If you are lucky enough to have a hard wire lighting fixture above your shower take advantage of it. If your current fixture isn’t bright enough, perhaps you could start with a higher wattage light bulb. Most fixtures have a label next to or under where the light bulb screws in, which tells you the maximum wattage this light fixture can handle safely. If your current bulb is less than this, then just buy a higher wattage bulb. If your light fixture still is not bright enough for you, perhaps you need to change it out for a new one. Sometimes the type of lighting enclosure is filtering the light badly, perhaps the light fixture is old and not performing well or maybe you need something that takes more than one bulb. Remember when buying a light fixture that goes directly above your shower, it needs to be enclosed to protect the electrical parts from the water. A glass globe, a plastic dome, or a florescent light fixture with a ceiling flush plastic covering are great options. You can replace the fixture yourself by carefully following the directions, you can get a friend with some experience to help you with it, or you can hire someone to ... Continue reading...
